M.O.O.A. and Manchester China Town Business Association (MCTBA) in partnership with Manchester City Centre Management Company, various departments in the Manchester Council and other organizations have successfully launched the Re-enter the Dragon Project several months ago.
It includes major repair and renovation of the key structures, facilities, pedestrian walkways, new landscaping and garden plantations, lightings improvement and thorough cleaning of the whole area.  This will ensure that the Chinese Arch, Pagoda and all other Oriental structures are in a safe, clean, healthy and comfortable tourist spot right in the heart of Manchester
There will be a fair in China Town on Sunday 2nd October from 3.00p.m.   Our Lord Mayor of Manchester is invited to switch on all the lightings at approximately 7.30p.m. and firework display.
Children will be playing with their lanterns throughout the evening.

Chinese New Year Celebrations
Welcome to the Year of the Dog with Manchester’s biggest and most exciting Chinese New Year celebration. Sunday 29th January 2006
Manchester is the 2nd largest Chinese community in UK and we celebrate Chinese New Year in China Town every year to keep our cultural traditions alive. It is important for our younger generation to recognise and understand their roots, their tradition and culture, especially when they are being brought up in a western influenced environment.

Also, this New Year is special as it celebrates the 20th anniversary of Manchester being twinned with China’s city Wuhan.

We are honoured to have the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China, Lord Mayor of city Manchester as our guest speakers for the New Year official opening ceremony.
Other highlights will include dragon parade, firecrackers, Lion & Unicorn dance and most importantly, the various talented performances by the Wuhan City Art group. They are especially invited to come all the way from China to join us to celebrate this big event. Apart from acrobats, dances, magic and comedies, they will perform an highly skilled unique performance “Changing Faces”, which is rarely seen in the UK. And finally, the day will be cheered with colourful firework display.

We invite you to be a part of this important yearly celebration - as a spectator, participant, or sponsor.

Kung Hei Fat Choy!  May Prosperity be with you forever!
